The Kosair Integrated Technology Experience (KITE) is a technology-based activity program designed to provide positive physical, cognitive and sensory experiences for children  2 1/2 to 9 years old.

March 30th, 2020, thru April 2nd, 2020 is cancelled due to health and safety concerns. Additional information about the June (KITE) will be posted at a later date as we learn more.

For the younger children (ages 2 1/2 to 5) programming occurs from 9:00 a.m.-noon and older children’s programming (ages 6 to 9) occurs from 1:00-4:00 p.m. each day. KITE is open to all kids with special needs, maximum capacity of 10 children per session.

Each day of the experience, participants are paired with Spalding University students who are studying in one of the professional programs of occupational therapy, education and occupational therapy assistant students from Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

Program Activities Include:

  • motivational mind-body MeMoves
  • specialized computer programs
  • iPad and iPod touch learning
  • play designed to engage in gross motor skills
  • socialization activities
  • Wii Kinect gaming
  • digital-camera use for electronic scrap-booking
  • music with a variety of themes
  • targeted sensory-motor experiences

All activities are imaginatively designed to meet participants’ specific needs for creative-play experiences that enhance engagement and performance.

Special snack times which include fruit and juices are embedded within each day’s programming. KITE is designed and coordinated by experienced assistive technology professionals, occupational therapists, a speech-language pathologist and various Spalding University professional program faculty.
